The Wurth Group is the life’s work of Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Reinhold Würth, one of the outstanding business success stories in post-war Germany history.
Reinhold Würth turned the two-man operation he inherited from his father in 1954 into a global group comprising of 416 companies in 86 countries by the end of 2008. The worldwide sales in the financial year 2008 reached over Euro 8.8 billion. This equals approximately $ 16 billion Australian Dollars. Over 60 000 employees, nearly 50% are sales representatives, service around 3 000 000 customers.
The core business of the Wurth Group is the global sale of fixing and assembly materials through an international network of companies. Our aim is to become the market leader in assembly technology. The core strengths we can offer to our customers are competence, quality and a strong sales force.
On 29th June 1982 the Australian subsidiary was founded under the name Wurth Fasteners Pty. Ltd. First we concentrated on customers in the automotive repair business in Melbourne and Victoria. In 1988 the first sales consultants started to work in Canberra and Sydney. Adelaide and Brisbane followed in 1990, Perth in 1994, Tasmania in 1995 and Darwin in 1997.
Eric Juebner, who had joined the company on 1st May 1988, was appointed Managing Director from 1st January 1991.
On Easter 1993 the company moved to a larger premises Redwood Drive, Dingley. In October 1993 we changed our name to Wurth Australia Pty. Ltd.
The Metal Division employed its first sales staff in 1997. The division sells to steel and metal fabricators, machine and tool makers, maintenance departments of small and large businesses, forklift repairers, manufacturers as well as any business not directly related to the automotive industry. After twelve years in business we have sales consultants in all states and territories of Australia.
In 2007, the Construction Division was founded in Melbourne. The goal is to sell to tradesmen of the construction industry on building sites. The first results are promising.
In June 2008 we opened our new warehouse in Perth (Balcatta). All customers in Western Australia receive their goods from this location.
Eric Juebner resigned as managing director in December 2008. The leadership of the company has been transferred to three directors; Brendan McCann in Melbourne, Alan Baldwin in Perth and Matthew Mayne in Brisbane.
In April 2009 the warehouse in Brisbane (Ormeau) started to deliver goods to our customers in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
In April 2010, Wurth moved into a new Head Office in Dandenong. This larger warehouse will be capable of supplying the needs of our customers and foster double digit growth for the next 10 years. A new division was founded to focus on the Construction industry and their specific requirements.
In November 2010, Wurth Australia achieved a significant milestone and employed its 500 employee.
Wurth Australia has now a sales force of nearly 400 sales consultants. We service over 40,000 customers in different industries. We offer a product range of around 10,000 lines.
