How do you read a glove rating?

The European Standard EN 388:2016 covers the testing requirements for safety gloves that are designed to protect against mechanical risks, including abrasions, cuts, puncture, tearing and impact.

The results of these tests and then displayed alongside the pictogram (representing protection against mechanical hazards) in the form of four numbers and two letters. To easily understand this, the higher the number = the higher the protection, whilst the fifth letter corresponds to the TDM cut resistance test, and gives a letter between A and F, with A being the lowest and F being the highest. Finally, the letter in sixth position is for gloves designed for impact protection, and will either be a P (pass), F (fail) or X (non applicable) result.

FIND YOUR SIZE

Use our handy guides below to choose the size glove that is right for you!

Glove Hand Size

To determine your correct glove size, you'll need two key measurements.

a) Hand length

b) Hand circumference

To get these, first measure the distance from your wrist to the tip of your middle finger - this is your hand length.

Next, taking a tape measure, start at a point 20mm above the crook between your thumb and forefinger, and measure around the circumference of your hand.

Using both of these measurements, you can now determine your glove size with the chart below!

SAFETY GLASSES

Keeping an eye on safety!

In order to protect one of your most important sensory organs, Wurth has developed a comprehensive range of stylish and protective glasses to protect you from all kinds of damaging sunlight, heat and burns.

On the job, the eye is often exposed to three main categories of hazards:

  • Chemical (Acids, bases, gases, vapours, mist, smoke)
  • Mechanical (dust, foreign bodies)
  • Optical (UV radiation, glare)

Each of these different hazards require specific forms of protection, which is why Wurth has created a range of safety glasses and face shield options to match whatever task you’re doing. With features including breakproof and scratch-resistant lenses, anti-fog coating, and comfortable yet stylish designs, find the right pair of Wurth safety glasses for you!

Some of the options available include:

  • Standard safety glasses
  • Premium safety glasses
  • Safety glasses that go over corrective glasses
  • Foam-edged glasses for maximum comfort
  • Ultra-light weight glasses
  • Contrast glasses for UV leak detection
  • Safety sunglasses for outdoor work

Redefining Comfort with Wurth Safety Glasses

Multiple Colour Lens Options

There’s lots to consider when choosing the right safety glasses for you, with one important consideration being lens colour. With many of the glasses in the Wurth range include multiple lens options, it’s important to understand the different lens colours and their benefits.

  • Clear: Clear lenses are the most universal and standard lens colour among safety glasses, as they provide the highest Visible Light Transmission making them great for general purpose, indoor work.
  • Grey: Grey lenses are perfect for outdoor work, as they work by dimming your surroundings and reducing excessive glare.
  • Yellow: Commonly used in low light, indoor settings, amber lenses block out blue light and enhance contrast which can allow your surroundings to appear brighter.
  • Brown: Similarly to yellow lenses, brown lenses can block out blue light and any haze caused by it. This makes them ideal for outdoor settings, especially within nature as green colours are enhanced.

HEARING PROTECTION

Drown out the noise with Wurth hearing protection!

Did you know that noise-induced hearing loss is one of the most common occupational impairments? With it developing as a mostly painless and gradual issue, hearing loss is often recognized after it is too late and the damage has become irreversible.

Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that you are using suitable hearing protection within the work place for the entire duration of noise exposure, to prevent noise-related hearing damage.

Here at Wurth, we provide a range of hearing protection options, varying from in-ear earplugs to over-the-head earmuffs that cater to different noise levels.

  • Disposable earplug
  • Reusable earplugs
  • Corded earplugs
  • Ear defenders
  • Earplug dispensers for easy access and storage

Foldable, comfortable and adjustable – the Ear Defenders are the ultimate in noise protection and user comfort. With a padded headband, low-pressure design, and wide sealing pads – you won’t want to take them off! SNR attenuation value of 34 dB.

Why is hearing protection important?

In Australia, Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is an issue that accounts for 37% of all hearing loss nationally, with most cases being caused by noise in the workplace. Despite this huge number of cases, NIHL is actually the most preventable kind of hearing loss if correct steps are taken.

Don’t believe just how much of a difference our Ear Defenders can make? Take a look at Colin as he shows us the difference in in noise levels when standing next to an air compressor with or without his hearing protection.
